Organizational Education

By Bob Norton

Most organizational education initiatives are not effective, or measured, because they are not tied to specific organizational goals. Human resources people, like marketing people, like to claim they can not be measured. Often this results in growing expenses and declining results and effectiveness which can turn into corporate welfare for a larger training staff. Don't believe it! Anything you invest in MUST be measurable in some way (long-term or short-term) and must meet specific organizational goals. If they can not figure out a way to show their benefit to the company, they are probably the wrong people and you must consider investing in something that can be measured. If you can not measure, you can not improve, or adjust to a world that now changes radically in short periods of time due to technology, global pressures and other fast moving trends.
